New Area Director Announced for Latin America

Dear colleagues and partners in ministry,

As many of you will know, Dr.  Delia NüescGomez.Family.2016-370x298h-Olver has announced that she will step down as Area Director on March 31, 2019. The Board of Bishops recognizes and thanks Dr. Delia for her excellent work overseeing the area for these past 10 years. She and Paul have worked tirelessly across the area focusing on “fueling and sustaining a biblical movement to reach Latin America for Christ.”

The Board of Bishops has been working over the past couple of months to discern the right person to step into this role. We are pleased to announce the appointment of Rev. Dr. Ricardo Gómez as the new Area Director for Latin America, effective April 1, 2019. Ricardo has been a missionary with the FMC for over a decade, serving in Chile and now Colombia and is well positioned to understand both the challenges and the opportunities in the area. Ricardo holds a technical degree from the Instituto Tecnológico Salesiano in Colombia, a bachelor’s in theology (emphasis in pastoral studies) from Colombian Biblical Seminary, and a Master of Arts in theology and a Ph.D. in intercultural studies from Asbury Theological Seminary (the latter with emphases in mission in cultural context and history and theology of mission).

We invite the church to join us in prayer for Ricardo and Beth as well as their children Juliana and Jonathan as Ricardo steps into these new responsibilities.
