The scarcity and subsequent high cost of real estate shapes the type of outreach ministries the conference has developed. Government-approved centers for the elderly and for youth provide an opportunity for witness and service, as well as a meeting place for several churches. Study centers, primary schools and preschools are used in the same way by other churches. Some churches meet in several rooms in high-rise apartment buildings.
Hong Kong became a self-supporting, full annual conference in June 1985.
