Nepal

ORIGINS

In 2015, after closing a previous work, the FMC in Nepal came under the care and supervision of FMWM and a new Mission District was formed. Pastor Abraham, a Nepali pastor, was commissioned to oversee work in country.

After the devastating earthquake in 2015, people in Nepal saw Free Methodists in action. Through the assistance of the Bishops’ Crisis Response Fund our FM leaders extended acts of compassion to a variety of groups across Nepal. Several indigenous Christian congregations showed interest in joining our FM work.

These independent churches expressed interest in the teachings and heritage of the Free Methodist Church and the blessing of belonging to a denominational family. Our national leaders visited churches and shared the unique witness of the Free Methodist Church.

By the end of 2015, our small group of 100 grew significantly and our membership and partnerships began to multiply exponentially.
