Burundi: Kibuye Hospital Chaplain Nyawenda Pascal is thankful for the gift of a motorcycle. It is allowing him to oversee the work of eight churches located some distance from Kibuye. Pastor Pascal reported a new family who came to church and decided to follow Christ. Accordingly, they gathered all their witchcraft paraphernalia into a pile to be burned, showing their allegiance to their new Master – Jesus Christ.
Taiwan: Pray for the Hakka weekend, April 27 to 28, in Kaohsiung, Taiwan. Tim and Lily Kinkead report they are inviting a pastoral couple who work with Hakka people to share about breaking through ancestor worship. “We know many Hakka people in our community we want to invite to church that day,” write the Kinkeads. Pray for God to work through the messages shared this weekend.
Asia: Pray for those gathering for the Asia Pacific FM Missions Association Executive Committee meetings this week, April 25 to 26, in Kaohsiung, Taiwan. Pray for God’s direction in the matters of training, sending and caring for missionaries, as well as new initiatives focusing on community church planting in Asia. Pray as Executive Director Shirish Ahaley (India) and Associate Director Ms. Edna Bacus (Philippines) bring leadership. Ask for the Holy Spirit’s anointing and strength for implementation of APFMMA’s mission.
Belgium: Praise the Lord for a new Venezuelan believer who accepted Christ at the recent movie night. Pray this woman grows in her faith. Praise God for the ministry conducted and connections made by Betsy Crawford (missionary to Mexico) and Josue Castro (a young Mexican lay leader) who visited many in the Spanish-speaking community of the New Hope church earlier this month.
Costa Rica: Dennis and Kyle Leon request prayer for productive training time with Pano and his family at the Pura Vida Church Tamarindo this month. Also pray for Ronnie, the newest youth who is living with the Leon family for exposure to a healthy, Christian family and spiritual mentoring.
Peru: Pray for the Lima church planting project. The church has moved eight times in the last two and a half years and is now meeting in a small gymnasium. On Saturday nights, Pastor Miguel Algorta continues to make the six-hour trip down the mountains from Tarma. When he can’t be there, Pastor Miguel Pachas leads the service. Pray for the group of 10 to 15 committed believers who are working hard to see the church grow. Begin praying now for the special summer activities with teams coming from New York and Brazil.
Continue to lift Deb Wilson (Philippines) in prayer. She was released from the hospital Thurs., April 19. Pray for her continued treatment and the doctor’s wisdom regarding her care.
Linda Stryker praises God for a good report following a heart catheterization last week. Linda requests prayer for safety as she travels from Florida to Michigan, for the Central Africa Health Organization (CAHO) meetings. From there, she will travel to Canada for three months of partnership building and then help her home church in Calgary explore ministries for immigrants.
