The Holy Spirit continues to move powerfully throughout the Asia area, fulfilling the mission of the Father which was inaugurated by Christ the Son: “the whole earth will be filled with the knowledge of God.” This is the Mission. In the words of one author: “It’s not so much that the Church has a mission for God in the world, as it is that God has a mission in the world – which He is completing through His Church.” Indeed, God is carrying out His work in and through us. The figures are staggering: nearly 50 percent of all Free Methodists today live in Asia – that’s about half a million members – a miraculous multiplication from about 45,000 less than 20 years ago! Behind these amazing statistics are exciting stories, unfolding through the lives of our North American missionaries (short-term and career), our international missionaries (Asians reaching Asians through cross-cultural initiatives), our national leaders (Asian bishops, superintendents, pastors, evangelists and pioneers) – and all these stories are woven together into a miraculous tapestry of thousands of local churches stretching across 18 countries! But that’s not all.

The fabric of Free Methodism has expanded to global proportions. Our work in Asia does not stand alone. We are a global church. The harvest in Asia is one of the many evidences of God’s presence among us. This means that, wherever you happen to live in the world, the amazing life changes taking place across Asia are taking place in your church! FMWM is facilitating an ever-increasing network of unique, international partnerships. This creates an atmosphere of cross-cultural “propagation” – allowing the seeds of the gospel to be carried around the world (and back!) on the winds of the Holy Spirit.
