La Red Latina, the Latin Network of the Free Methodist Church – USA, feels called by God to organize a bilingual prayer gathering at the southern border wall of the United States. Because of several Free Methodist churches near San Diego, La Red Latina leaders have decided to hold the Immigration Prayer Summit on June 10 and 11 in National City, California — a town between Tijuana, Mexico, and San Diego.
“There’s no partisan agenda. This isn’t a reactionary rally. It’s a faith-filled response to an urgent and growing crisis that deeply touches all of our lives,” said Latin Network board member Thad Roller. “Our objective is to gather together in prayer, calling on our Heavenly Father to extend compassion, wisdom, healing and grace, as we seek to reflect His heart and will in the face of this complex issue.”
Prayer and intercession will take place both at the Emmanuel Free Methodist Church, 2529 D Ave., National City, CA 91950, and at the southern wall. The summit will begin with prayer at Emmanuel FMC from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday, June 10, and then resumes with prayer at the border wall from 9 to 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 11, with closing prayer at the church from 11:30 a.m. to noon followed by lunch. The summit is a free event although donations will be accepted to help with the cost of lunch. Free Methodists in Mexico are also planning to pray simultaneously from the southern side of the wall.
All are welcome to join in person or via livestream as Free Methodists pray in unity for our nation, for wisdom for our leaders, and for all those affected by the immigration crisis.
