In spite of great tragedy and loss caused by the devastating January 2010 earthquake, the church has seen significant growth. Many church buildings which were destroyed have been rebuilt in better, larger locations. International Child Care Ministries (ICCM) sponsors nearly 9,000 children in Haiti. Most of the churches operate primary schools. Nine secondary schools, a Bible school, and Providence University, as well as the Dessalines Rural Health Program and hospital, serve the educational, health and spiritual needs of thousands of people. Years of missionary investment are bearing fruit as responsibility and direction have fully shifted to Haitian leaders. The Free Methodist Church in Haiti became a provisional general conference in 2011 and a full general conference in 2015.
