AFRICA

Kenya: Debbie Hogeboom thanks you for your prayers. Authorities announce that four of the Ocampo 6 will be tried for crimes related to the post-election violence in 2007-08. Security was high in the Eldoret area, but all has remained calm.

Rwanda: Pray for Julie Yerger’s one-month visit in Rwanda beginning Sun., Feb. 5. While there she plans to talk with Kibogora Hospital leadership to see what their priorities are for the hospital and discuss how she can work with them to meet those goals. This will give Julie more information as she makes decisions and plans toward her return in June after a time of partnership building in the U.S.

 ASIA

Hong Kong/Philippines: Pray for God’s continued healing touch on Kits Monencillio, missionary from the Philippines to Hong Kong, as she recovers from surgery for a burst appendix last week.

India: Pray for God’s protection and for health to surround students from Helen Rose Training College of Nursing; some do not have safe living situations.

LATIN AMERICA

Mexico: Pray for newly appointed Mexican missionary Eunice Alvarez and God’s direction for her place of service. Also pray God will direct FM churches in Mexico raising funds for missions.

U.S. MISSIONS

Heavenly Treasures Team: Pray Kathy Gaulton, Keith Tanita and Christina Gaulton have safe travels and good meetings with artisans in Kenya and Ethiopia. They travel today, Jan. 31 through Fri., Feb. 17.

MISSIONS FAMILY

Bereavement:

Florence Mannoia, former education and evangelism missionary to Brazil, passed away Thurs., Jan. 12. Her memorial service will be March 10, at 2:00 p.m. at the Spring Arbor FMC, Spring Arbor, MI.

Kathryn Hendrix Vance, former education missionary who served in Burundi for nearly 11 years between 1960 and 1971, passed away Oct. 10, 2011. Her memorial service was held in Camargo, OK.

VISA MINISTRIES/MOBILIZATION

Teams:

A team of four from Hillcrest Christian Fellowship, Mount Vernon, WA, is ministering at Casa Grande church in Santiago, Chile, for two weeks beginning Jan. 31. They will help with VBS, outreach at a children’s cancer hospital, support for a church retreat, and assistance at a community Sweetheart Dinner for Valentine’s Day. The team will work under the direction of Ricardo and Beth Gomez.

A construction team of 12 from the Spring Arbor FMC, MI, under the leadership of Matt Hurt, will minister in Haiti Feb. 2 to 12.

The New Creation FMC, New Castle, PA, is sending an 8-member team to Venezuela Feb. 2 to 13. This team, under the leadership of Kathy Smith, will be conducting children’s ministry and putting roofs on three churches.

Assignments: Randy and Alice Matthewson, Warm Beach FMC, Stanwood, WA, are currently ministering in the Democratic Republic of Congo through early July. Their assignment includes several building projects at hospitals, churches and universities.
