FM Superintendent Elected WHWC President

BY BETH CULLISON Gateway Conference Superintendent Lucia Delamarter, Free Methodist Church representative to the Wesleyan Holiness Women Clergy board of directors, has been elected to serve a two-year term as the new president of WHWC. Delamarter served the local church in a variety of lay leader capacities. Then the Lord called her to ordained ministry. For 11 years, she served as pastor of the Everett FMC (now LifePoint Church) in the Pacific Northwest. She was installed as superintendent of the Gateway Conference on Feb. 9, 2006. Her call to ministry is to call the local church back to its mission, and to lead her into the joy and responsibility of her sacred calling. Delamarter and her life-partner, Greg, met at Seattle Pacific University. They have been married for 42 years and have added a daughter-in-law and three grandchildren to their family of two sons. The Delamarters live in Greenville, Ill. Carla Sunberg, president of WHWC since 2009 and board member since 2006, will continue to serve on the board of directors as past president. The WHWC board wishes to thank Sunberg for her outstanding leadership and continued commitment to the ministry of Wesleyan Holiness Women Clergy. During this leadership transition, Wesleyan Holiness Women Clergy will continue its mission to encourage and equip women called by God to vocational Christian ministry within the Wesleyan/Holiness tradition for the advancement of God’s kingdom. Beth Cullison, an ordained Free Methodist elder and the executive administrative assistant for the Free Methodist Church – USA Board of Bishops, is the Wesleyan Holiness Women Clergy communication liaison.
